When the Phantoms move from Adirondack to Allentown in 2014-15, their new name will be the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. The Philadelphia Phillies' AAA team located in Allentown also goes by Lehigh Valley, the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs.
Allentown Morning Call: "The Phantoms logo will undergo only minor changes, with a bolder new type style spelling out the words Lehigh Valley Phantoms, and electric blue replacing purple as an accent color."
Co-owner Rob Brooks: "We are excited to play in Allentown and proud to be a part of the city's revitalization, which will enhance the entire region. We feel strongly that we will be the home team for the entire Lehigh Valley. That commitment is reflected in our development of Phantoms Charities with Air Products to benefit the whole Lehigh Valley, the launch of our G.O.A.L. program throughout Lehigh Valley's schools, and now in our official team name."
Allentown Mayor Ed Pawlowski: "Allentown is happy to be the 30-year home for another professional sports franchise in the Lehigh Valley. As I ride by the arena site every day, I get more and more excited about how things will look when they drop the puck in the fall of 2014."
