It's official. After a week of suspense and false reports, the Flyers have decided to get it over with tonight and name Flyers forward Claude Giroux (25) the 19th captain in team history. Now everyone needs a new Claude Giroux jersey.
Giroux is preceded by Flyers defenseman Chris Pronger who will most likely never play a NHL game again.
Giroux on captaincy: "It’s not going to change my game or the way I act on the ice or off the ice."
Lost in the mayhem: Kimmo Timonen will be an associate captain and Scott Hartnell and Danny Briere will be alternate captains.
