According to former NHL player and TVA Sports' Enrico Ciccone, the Flyers are interested in Canucks goalie Roberto Luongo. Luongo had a 91.9 SV% and 2.41 GAA in 55 games with Vancouver last season, but was benched for up and coming goalie Corey Schneider in the Playoffs.
In my opinion, the thought of this is just dumb if this is true. He's an inconsistant goalie and Ilya Bryzgalov needs another year to prove his worth now being used to hockey in Philadelphia. The Flyers shouldn't part ways with their assets this season when they need another defenseman. Also, this news is a great way to shatter Bryzgalov's confidence going into the season. Luongo's cap hit is only about 333,333 thousand less than Bryz's hit.
Sam Carchidi says there's no truth to this, but you never know.
Update: James Duthie says despite denials they are interested.
And this: "@adater Paul Holmgren going in on Luongo big time. Next year, Breezer gets bought out #takeittothebank"

Do the trade, let them battle it out, and use the contract amnesty on the one that doesn't make the grade.

No chance. Just another guy trying to be the first one to egnite the goalie drama before the season even starts

You can't make this move. You're only allowed 2 buyouts and if you pick up Luongo (no matter what you give up) then you instantly could waste one of these spots if BOTH goalies suck.
To me those two spots should be used on a combination of Briere, Pronger, and/or Bryzgalov this summer.
Let Vancouver buyout Luongo this summer and then the Flyers can buyout Bryzgalov (if he sucks) and sign Luongo at a much cheaper/better CAP hit.
