The Flyers probably missed out on Nikita Zaitsev

Despite having been interested in him since 2010, it appears the Flyers are losing out on Russian defenseman Nikita Zaitsev (23).

It’s already been reported that Zaitsev will stay in the KHL during the next season, but he might have an agreement in place to join Mike Babcock’s Leafs for 2016-2017.

From a Google translated website sports-express.ru: This agreement will take effect from next season, as will the forthcoming defender CSKA, with whom he has a contract until 30 April 2016.

Nikita Zaitsev’s agent denied a report this morning that he signed with the Leafs for this year.

Zaitsev was in Toronto meeting with the Leafs’ brass today.

The Flyers were considered frontrunners for his services.

Nikita Zaitsev’s statline last season in the KHL: 57 GP, +27, 12 G, 20 A, 32 PTS
