Flyers 2, Capitals 1 (OT): TK the Hero

The Philadelphia Flyers are in a playoff position.

Travis Konecny was the hero in an afternoon matchup with the Washington Capitals on Sunday, scoring 27 seconds into overtime to help the Flyers to a 2-1 win at Capital One Arena.

Konecny made a great crossover move on Evgeny Kuznetsov and fired a shot that deflected off Washington forward T.J. Oshie and past goalie Braden Holtby.

Michael Raffl also scored, while Brian Elliott made 27 saves in his return to the cage.

The Flyers extended their winning streak to three games and have won seven of their past eight.


First Period

Ivan Provorov set the tone early when he sent Tom Wilson flying with a solid and clean bodycheck.

Michael Raffl opened the scoring when he converted off a beautiful pass from Valtteri Filppula. He beat Holtby blocker side from the left face-off circle for his ninth goal of the season.

Second Period

Alex Ovechkin evened up the score in the second period with his league-leading 29th goal from his office.


It took just 27 seconds for Travis Konecny to takeover in he extra frame and propel the Flyers to victory.
