Flyers 6, Blues 3 post-game: Flyers are victorious!

Brayden Schenn and the St Louis Blues were in town for the final meeting this year.

The Flyers won 2-0 in their previous game earlier this season. This is the first time Schenn returned to Philadelphia after the trade at the draft this summer.

Schenn received a tribute video during the first commercial break.

Brian Elliott made his 16th straight start in goal.

Tyrell Goulbourne made his NHL debut on the fourth line with Scott Laughton and Jori Lehterä. Goulbourne had scored six goals and four assists in 34 games with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms before earning his first call up.

First period

The Flyers dominated the first period from start to finish. Goulbourne is known for his physical play and during his first shift he laid out a huge hit on Pietrangelo. Just moments later Scott Laughton scored the first goal of the game with a beautiful snipe.

The Flyers continued to carry the play, creating lots of scoring chances and offensive zone pressure. All four lines were playing well and at one point the Flyers had a 7-0 shot advantage.

Jake Allen made some huge saves to keep the Blues in the game, but Flyers scored their second goal of the game when Giroux and Konecny had a 2-on-1. Giroux tried to pass to Konecny, but the pass went off Parayko and then in.

Second period

The Blues started the second period with some offensive zone pressure and the Flyers struggled to maintain their play from the first period. After a couple of minutes, they finally got back to the things that were working in the first 20 minutes. Jordan Weal, who has been great as of late, beat his defender and scored on a nice deke to make it a three-goal lead.

Sean Couturier has been one of the best players on the Flyers so far this year and he would score his 20th goal of the season on a ridiculous pass by Giroux — and just like that the score was 4-0 Flyers.

The Blues called a timeout after the fourth Flyers goal and they would get a goal back when Barbashev scored with just five minutes left of the period. The Flyers killed off a Brandon Manning penalty at the end of a period to keep the three-goal lead heading into the third.

Third period

It only took the Blues 12 seconds to cut the lead to two when Stastny scored on a Tarasenko pass. The Flyers struggled against the Islanders to keep their big lead in the third and today was no different. In the first 10 minutes of the third, the Blues were really aggressive, creating lots of turnovers and chances, but Brian Elliott made some important saves to keep the score 4-2.

The Flyers got a power play with nine minutes left in the period and Simmonds capitalized when he redirected a Gostisbehere slapshot.

Colton Parayko would get one back, but the Flyers managed to shut them down after that and Sean Couturier sealed the win with a empty-net goal with just seconds left in the game. Huge victory for the Flyers.
