The Flyers added some veteran depth to their blueline Monday morning.
Reports confirm that the Flyers were able to claim veteran defenseman Johnny Oduya from Ottawa. Oduya has eight points and a plus-2 rating for Ottawa this season, averaging 17:12 of ice time. He’s a veteran of 849 regular season games in the NHL with 190 points (41 goals), ranking second among active Swedish defensemen in games played.
The 36-year-old is in the midst of his 12th season in the NHL and Philly marks the 7th stop on his NHL tour. Oduya is a two-time Stanley Cup winner with the Chicago Blackhawks and will add valuable stay-at-home defensive experience to the Flyers defense.
Otherwise, Colorado claimed defenseman Mark Alt off waivers Monday. The 26-year-old appeared in eight NHL games this year, acting as the Flyers sporadic seventh fill-in defenseman.
