Flyersnation is re-launching under the Nation Network.
Founded in 2011 by Sean Cobourn and Kedrick Buchanan, Flyersnation has grown into one of the most engaging and passion-fuelled resources for Philadelphia Flyers fans on the web. With a rapid-growing fanbase on social media, Flyersnation is dedicated to providing quality news, analysis and digital content to one of the most passionate communities of hockey fans on the web.
With a Twitter account now at over 100,000 followers, the Nation Network gives Flyersnation an excellent and well-respected platform to take coverage of the Philadelphia Flyers beyond social media. A website has always existed, but this is the step needed to turn a rapidly-growing social media feed into a multi-dimensional resource for fans. The new site will include everything from game previews, recaps, news, prospect reports, player analysis, play breakdowns and other unique features that will emerge as the voices get established. This is a digital age and a well-managed website to compliment the social media feeds gives fans of the Nation the proper coverage they deserve.
Brady Trettenero will be stepping into the Managing Editor role at the website. Brady became involved with Flyersnation in the early goings and has seen his role evolve in an ever-changing media landscape. Brady specializes in delivering digital content (Gifs, videos, screencaps) during live events, while also bringing insightful player analysis, news updates and breakdowns. Brady has been following and covering the team since 2011, but ultimately just aims for one goal; to make hockey fun.
Among the contributors joining the revamped site are Tim Riday, Johan Gartner, Zac DeMedio and @215Cash. All four are known in the Flyers community and are bringing their own unique voice to the website. Tim is formerly of CSN Philly and has earned a great reputation on social media for his wit and unique insight into the team, especially pertaining to the Phantoms and prospects. Johan is a Swede who has been a Flyers fan ever since he received an autographed picture of Eric Lindros when he was eight years old. He will be giving his perspective from the other side off the pond. Zac DeMedio is a senior Media Studies and Production major at Temple University with a major passion for the Flyers. @215Cash has been affiliated with Flyersnation for several years and is on the #FireHakstol train.
Sean Cobourn will continue his role operating the Twitter and Facebook feeds, providing a great mix of humor, updates and insight. Sean’s wit and creativity since he launched Flyersnation in 2011 is the reason it’s had success. Sean thrives at creating excitement around the team by putting out informative updates, in addition to funny puns, analysis and takes. His tone has resonated so well with fans and that won’t be changing. A well-functioning website to compliment Sean’s great social media ability is what will take Flyersnation to new levels.
This is just the beginning. Flyersnation has long been known for it’s social media presence, but couldn’t be happier to expand coverage to one of the most respected hockey outlets on the web. There’s a small team in place right now, but there will certainly be expansion as the season wears on. Brady is constantly scouting for new talent and will be looking to recruit some young, bright and digital-savvy hockey writers to assist Flyersnation. There are currently great voices on board, but Flyersnation will be building it’s identity by recruiting the most ambitious and passionate storytellers who are looking to make waves in an evolving media world that greatly depends on digital and social media content to build an audience. If you are interested in contributing or collaborating, feel free to e-mail Brady (firstname.lastname@example.org). Be sure to include content samples and a brief history of your experience as a writer, media member or just your time as a Philadelphia Flyers fan.
