GM Ron Hextall announced in a press conference Monday afternoon that Oskar Lindblom will be heading back down to Lehigh Valley.
The exciting rookie has impressed Flyers fans with some effective play over the past couple of games, filling in for injured forward Wayne Simmonds. The move is likely to retain Oskar Lindblom’s AHL playoff eligibility.
Players must be on an AHL roster as the NHL trade deadline passes to be eligible for the AHL playoffs.
Lindblom was sent down the Phantoms to make him eligible for Calder Cup playoffs but will, in reality, stay with the Flyers.

Lindblom will likely be called back up soon and could even play Monday against Montreal.
Read has had successful NHL spells in the past including two 40-point seasons in 2011-12 and 2013-14, but has been less effective since then.
There’s no more roster limit after today, so it’s possible the Flyers are planning on cycling Read in-and-out of the lineup or using him for depth down the stretch.
UPDATE: Read’s recall to the Flyers was BEFORE 3:00 p.m, meaning he can’t come back to the Phantoms in the regular season or playoffs. He will be with Flyers remainder of the year.
