He might not be Erik Karlsson, but the Flyers have signed a Swedish and right-handed defenseman.
The Flyers announced today they have signed defenseman Christian Folin to a one-year contract with an $800,000 cap hit for the 2018-19 season.
The 27-year-old appeared in 65 games last season with the Kings, recording 13 points, leading the team in average hits per game (2.6) and averaging 15:35 of ice time.
Folin has recorded 36 points (seven goals), 80 PIM and a plus-16 rating in 183 games over his five-season NHL career.
Folin is a solid bottom-four blueliner who can play on the penalty kill and be relied on defensively. He can be viewed as the Flyers’ seventh defenseman entering training camp and a quality replacement for Brandon Manning.
