Ron Hextall is a god.
The Flyers have traded Nicklas Grossmann and Chris Pronger to the Coyotes for Sam Gagner and a 2016 4th round pick or 2017 3rd rounder (Arizona’s choice).
The only reason Arizona agreed to this was because they badly need to reach the cap floor.
Philly will retain $500,000 of Grossmann’s $3.5 million cap hit and rid themselves of Chris Pronger’s deal till the end of 2017.
Ron Hextall is buying out Gagner and his $3.2 million hit for next season tho.

That would mean the Flyers would take on a $633,334 cap hit next season and a $833,334 hit the following year for him.
The Flyers will save about $5.1 million in cap space, but they can use that space during free agency instead of not acquiring it till they place Pronger on LTIR at the start of every season.
Philly has about $6.75 million in cap space right now according to General Fanager.
Chris Pronger was kind enough to waive his no trade clause for this to go through.
