The 25 year old will receive a new opportunity with the Sabres organization.

After tying for second on the Flyers with goals (2) and driving possession in the 2014 playoffs (7 GP, 3 PTS), Jason Akeson made the opening night roster last season.

In 13 games buried on the fourth line with Zac Rinaldo, Akeson contributed zero points before being demoted to Lehigh Valley.

During the inaugural LV Phantoms season, Akey continued his AHL scoring prowess with 53 points (23 G, 20 A) in 57 games.

Jason Akeson finishes tied for fifth (Paul Healey, Jon Matsumoto) all time in goals (81) with the Phantoms and fourth all time in points (225).

Akeson follows his AHL coach since 2012, Terry Murray, who’s a new assistant coach with Buffalo.

Long live Jason Nakeson.
