Leafs hire Mike Babcock

The Toronto Maple Leafs have announced Mike Babcock as the 39th head coach in team history.

Darren Dreger reported the contract is a massive eight year $50 million deal.

The Flyers were seemingly never interested in Babcock, not even seeking permission from Detroit to talk to him.

Ron Hextall had his eyes set on his guy, UND coach Dave Hakstol who he hired on Monday.
