For Flyers’ top offensive prospects Morgan Frost and Isaac Ratcliffe, the road to the 2019 World Juniors begins this summer.
Both Frost and Ratcliffe have received invitations to wear the red-and-white at this summer’s World Junior Showcase in Kamloops, B.C from July 28-Aug. 4. The event will be televised.
Frost was dominant in the OHL in 2017-18, utilizing his quick hands and great speed to rack up a whopping 112 points with the Greyhounds. The 2017 first-round pick has reportedly been putting on weight since his junior season ended and is up to 184 pounds. He checked in at 172 pounds at the Flyers’ 2017 development camp.
Ratcliffe was recently named captain of the OHL Guelph Storm for 2018-19. The 6’5” left winger exploded for 41 goals in 67 regular-season games last season before racking up five goals and nine points in the playoffs as the Storm bowed out in six games to the Kitchener Rangers.
The eight-day showcase features Canada, Finland, Sweden, and the United States who will combine to play 11 games at the Sandman Centre. Canada will dress two squads for games against a split Team USA on July 31, before combining again as Team Canada to play Finland on Aug. 2, Sweden on Aug. 3, and close the mini-tournament against the United States on Aug. 4.
