Oskar Lindblom scores highlight-reel shorthanded goal

Oskar Lindblom might be one of the best all-around skaters currently in the Philadelphia Flyers organization.

The 21-year-old Swedish forward is currently playing with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms of the AHL and has been a key asset all season long. Lindblom has put up 13 goals and 29 points through 45 games in his first full year with the Flyers’ farm club.

While the NHL All-Stars were showing off their skills Saturday night, Lindblom took the spotlight in the AHL.

The Phantoms’ forward netted his 13th goal of the season off a terrific spin-o-rama move in a shorthanded situation against the Utica Comets.

Radel Fazleev started the play after receiving a breakout pass from Travis Sanheim. Fazleev then sent Lindblom in on top goaltending prospect Thatcher Demko.

The Phantoms ended up falling in overtime, but Lindblom showed why he likely isn’t too far off from making the big club.
It’s plays like these that are why Lindblom was chosen to replace the injured Danick Martel at the AHL All-Star Classic this weekend.
