Phantoms sign Pavel Padakin

The Flyers continue to add talent to the lower levels.

In a move reported last Thursday from Bill Meltzer, the Phantoms confirmed a Padakin signing today.

Pavel Padakin (21) had 55 points (27 G, 28 A) in 70 games with the Calgary Hitmen and Regina Pats (WHL) this season, although only one of those games was with Calgary (1 G).

In his overage junior year, Padakin didn’t show much improvement, as he only had one more point in four more games than the previous campaign.

A native of Kiev, Pavel Padakin was supposed to play with the KHL’s HC Donbass Donetsk in the Ukraine during 2014-2015 before pro separatist Russians burned down the arena.

Pavel is the only Calgary Hitman in franchise history to score two teddy bear toss goals. Flyers prospect Radel Fazleev scored the goal this year with the Hitmen.

Padakin is listed as 6’3″ 209 pounds on the list of Development Camp prospects, but I’ve seen 6’0″ on other sites.

The right winger made the jump from the Ukraine to the North American Hockey League (NAHL) in 2011.

It’s an AHL only deal for 2015-2016.

Pavel Padakin was a Calgary Flames camp invitee last season.
