There’s 22 days till the 2015 NHL draft in Sunrise and the Flyers will be receiving an impact player at 7th overall. Who that exact player is remains to be seen, but Director of Scouting Chris Pryor said yesterday Philly will be picking the best player available.
The Flyers have a team need for a winger, but whoever gets selected shouldn’t be in the NHL right away, and probably not for a few seasons.
Assuming the experts are correct, the first five picks will look something like this.
1. Edmonton: Connor McDavid
2. Buffalo: Jack Eichel
3. Arizona: Noah Hanifin
4. Toronto: Dylan Strome
5. Carolina: Mitch Marner
Most people have the Devils going forward (Barzal, Crouse, Rantanen etc.) with the 6th overall pick and that leaves a lot of good options for the Flyers next.
Ivan Provorov (D, WHL): 15-46-61 in 60 GP
Mathew Barzal (C, WHL): 12-45-57 in 44 GP
Mikko Rantanen (RW, Liiga): 9-19-28 in 56 GP
Lawson Crouse (LW, OHL): 29-22-51 in 56 GP
Pavel Zacha (C, OHL): 16-18-34 in 37 GP
If you’re Ron Hextall, where are you going with Philly’s lottery pick?
