Flyers (6-6-1) @ Blues (10-2-1)
The injury-plagued Flyers are looking to get back into the win column after two straight losses and will do so with yet another injury. Shayne Gostisbehere, Nolan Patrick and Andrew MacDonald are all currently sidelined, and in last night’s game, the Flyers lost another important player in Radko Gudas, who left with an upper-body injury and didn’t return.
This will be Brayden Schenn’s first game against the Flyers since the trade earlier this summer. Michal Neuvirth is set to start in net.

Philadelphia: Flyers Line Combinations
The Flyers played one heck of a hockey game last night against the Blackhawks, but Corey Crawford in the Blackhawks’ net just couldn’t be beaten. Philadelphia created enough to deserve at least a point, and if they play the same way tonight, they most likely will get one. Provorov is already the Flyers’ number one defenseman, but with MacDonald and Gudas injured, he will be relied upon even more.
Provorov logged 28:07 of ice time against the Coyotes on Monday — his highest total of minutes since joining the league. Last night, Provorov played 29:51 and it’s safe to say he will play around the same minutes tonight.
Giroux – Couturier – Voracek
Konecny – Filppula – Simmonds
Weal – Lehterä – Weise
Leier – Laughton – Raffl
Provorov – Hägg
Sanheim – Manning
Alt – O’Neill
St Louis: Blues Line Combinations
The Blues are off to a great start and they are currently on a four-game winning streak. Jaden Schwartz is currently third in the NHL in points with 17 and that whole line with Schwartz, Schenn and Tarasenko has been a huge success to start the year. Jake Allen is confirmed to start in goal for the Blues.
Schwartz – Schenn – Tarasenko
Sobotka – Stastny – Steen
Pääjärvi – Sundqvist – Bennett
Upshall – Brodziak – Jaskin
Gunnarsson – Pietrangelo
Edmundson – Parayko
Dunn – Bortuzzo
THREE STORYLINES TO WATCH
1. The Flyers are missing plenty of key pieces right now and will need to find a way to win through the adversity. The first line has been leading the way, but they need help from the other lines, and this is a great time for former Blue Jori Lehterä to show he deserves a spot on the team when Patrick comes back from his injury.
2. Allen vs Neuvirth. Both goalies remind me of each other — when they are playing their best hockey, they are unstoppable and it’s almost impossible to score on them. Unfortunately, they are both very inconsistent and it will be interesting to see who is the better goaltender tonight.
3. Ivan Provorov made the three storylines to watch before the Blackhawks game as well and his importance to this team only increases after the Gudas injury. He is playing on the first PP unit, the first PK unit and logs heavy minutes in general. The Flyers need him to be at his best if they want to have a chance to win tonight. Dont be surprised if he plays close to 30 minutes again tonight.
