Three Storylines to Watch

The Flyers and the Devils both find themselves in the midst of four-game streaks. However, Philadelphia has strung together four consecutive victories while New Jersey is suffering through four straight losses. Of course, the Flyers hope to extend their streak to five games. The Devils, on the other hand, hope they can turn the corner and put an end to their losing ways.

It is hard to argue the success of the Flyers top line. Just this past Sunday, the trio of Claude Giroux, Sean Couturier, and Travis Konecny played a role in three of the four goals scored against Vegas. In the season series with the Devils so far, Giroux has recorded a goal and three assists while Couturier and Konecny have two goals and one assist each. If Philadelphia’s top line can keep rolling, the Flyers chance of winning certainly increases.

Michal Neuvirth is expected to make his second straight start Tuesday night after a very strong performance on Sunday against Vegas. In truth, he will be seeing a serious increase in action due to the recent injury of Brian Elliott. The spotlight will be on Neuvirth as the organization hopes he can answer the call and keep this team moving in the right direction. However, if he struggles and Elliott is sidelined for an extended period of time, expect the Flyers to hit the market for a goalie.
