Preview: Flyers vs. Islanders (Game 39)

It’s battle of two struggling teams Thursday night in Philadelphia, as the Flyers play host to the Islanders in a Metropolitan Division clash.

The Islanders are riding a three-game losing streak, while the the Flyers are 1-3-1 in their past five games after going 7-1-0 in their previous eight.

The Flyers were dominated 5-1 by the Penguins on Tuesday evening and need a strong effort against the Islanders to get this four-game homestand on the right track.

Brian Elliott will make his 15th consecutive start in goal after he was pulled Tuesday against the Penguins.

Tyrell Goulbourne was recalled by the Phantoms yesterday, but he wasn’t able to make it to Philadelphia in time for tonight’s game.

Travis Sanheim and Taylor Leier both remain healthy scratches.

Top defenseman Johnny Boychuk (lower body) practiced Wednesday, but remains out and will not play Thursday against the Flyers.

Superstar forward John Tavares has 18 points (four goals) in his past 11 games.

Thomas Greiss will start in goal for the first time since Dec. 19.
