Updated: September 27, 2018 at 2:28 pm by Zac DeMedio

Philadelphia hosts the Rangers for the second time this preseason, as they gear up for the end of the preseason schedule and begin to look ahead towards the regular season. The Flyers are coming off a 4-3 loss to the Boston Bruins, where they saw a furious rally fall just short.

The Rangers will be playing their second game in as many nights, as they fell to their in-state rivals the New York Islanders 4-3 in overtime.

THREE STORYLINES TO WATCH

1. With final cuts looming closer and closer the importance of these games skyrocket for fringe players trying to make a claim for a roster spot. Expect high efforts from players like Jordan Weal, Carsen Twarynski, and Sam Morin over the final two preseason games as they attempt to make the Flyers opening night roster.

2. It’ll be important for the Flyers to get off to a fast start, and not repeat their same mistakes from the Bruins game where they were chasing a 4 goal lead in the 3rd period. The Rangers played last night, and should have some tired legs. Hopefully the Flyers can exploit that and jump out to an early lead tonight.

3. Sean Couturier is still recovering from his knee injury and won’t play tonight, but General Manager Ron Hextall is hopeful his return to the ice will be sooner than later. The team is expecting to have the services of their first line center for the preseason finale in Boston on Saturday.
