Hurricanes (35-34-11, 81pts) @ Flyers (40-26-14, 94pts)

Flyers have been playing “the most important game of the season” for roughly two weeks now and tonight is no different. After a disappointing effort against the Islanders a couple of days ago, the Flyers are looking to bounce back — not just with a win but with a better effort.

Brian Elliott is back from injury and is expected to start for the first time since early-February. The Flyers have a chance to clinch if they win tonight and the Panthers lose their game against the Bruins.

Nolan Patrick had a great game against the Islanders and got promoted to the first power-play unit and scored two goals.

Dave Hakstol has decided to change things up for tonight’s game, putting Scott Laughton back into the lineup instead of Jordan Weal. He also decided to put Travis Konecny on the third line and promote Michael Raffl on the first line.

Brian Elliott will make his first start since 10th of February. Hakstol is looking for Konecny to help the Filppula line to contribute more at even strength. Flyers need depth scoring badly.

THREE STORYLINES TO WATCH

Claude Giroux has scored 30 goals and a total of 97 points this year, both a career high. Giroux has done everything to deserve a Hart trophy nomination this season and he has a chance to get to the 100 point plateau, all he needs is just 3 points in the remaining 2 games. Giroux was one of the few who actually showed up against the Islanders. Look for him to lead the way as per usual.

Flyers special teams have been a mess all year, and it cost them again last game. Flyers need to be disciplined and stay out of the penalty box. If they can’t do that it might cost them a playoff spot.

Brian Elliott is back in net for the first time in just about a month, and the Flyers need him to be at his absolute best from the start. He has time after time this season made key saves at key moments and he might just be the key for the Orange & Black to clinch a spot in this years Stanley Cup Playoffs.
