Samuel Morin wins QMJHL title

It took two overtimes, but the Rimouski Oceanic put away the Quebec Remparts 2-1 in Game 7 of the QMJHL Finals last night to claim the President’s Cup.

Flyers defensive prospect Samuel Morin turned it on when it mattered with five points in the seven games. Overall, the 2013 first round draft pick had 11 points (1 G, 10 A) and a cool +10 in 19 games during the QMJHL playoffs.

Morin (19) and the Oceanic still have the Memorial Cup to participate in, along with the Kelowna Rockets (WHL) and Oshawa Generals (OHL).

Barring some contracts get moved and/or Samuel Morin turns heads in training camp and the pre-season, it looks like he’ll help form a sexy defensive unit in Lehigh Valley with Robert Hagg and Shayne Gostisbehere (?) next year.
