Wayne Simmonds is having an eventful offseason.
While GM Ron Hextall tries to re-sign the fan favorite and trade rumors run rampant, the Wayne Train has gotten hitched.
Simmonds reportedly tied the knot with his girlfriend, Crystal Corey, last weekend. He proposed to her back in January of 2017.
Simmonds’ current deal with the Flyers will expire at the end of next season when he’ll make $5 million in actual salary, but just $3.975 million against the cap.
The 29-year-old power forward scored 24 goals in an injury-riddled 2017-18 campaign and is expected to get a big pay increase for his next contract.
Now that the distraction of getting married is out of the way, look for Simmonds to have a big year in 2018-19.
Update: This story previously included an Instagram post from Wayne Simmonds showing the wedding. We have been informed the person running that account is not Wayne, and instead, is an impersonator who doesn’t own rights to the footage posted. We were asked to remove the video from this article and will update the story when photos and video from the wedding are made available publicly.
